Christmas Craft fair 2012

Has it really been almost a year since I last posted? Well, you're going to be in picture overload now!

I recently finished up a bunch of orders for a local craft fair just before Christmas. Here are a few of the orders I filled.

 

These ones are all headbands. Some with layered flowers, some with a spiral flower, some with no flower at all.

 

 

Next we've got some hats for your viewing pleasure.

 

 

The Kaylee shown with a picot edge.

 

The Anna, one with a brim and one with a scalloped edge. Also shown is The Marie headband.

 

Minnie Mouse for those Disney fans!

 

An upgrade from our last monkey hat. This one has a face!

 

These hats are also The Anna, one with a brim and one with a scalloped edge. Also shown an Owl hat for a little boy.

 

 

The two cross-stitch hats are The Phoebe and the turquoise hat is the Nora shown with a snowflake.

And what seemed to be everyone's favorite at the fair:

The Hadlee. I made over a dozen of this hat - in these EXACT same colors (Lion brand espresso, cream, teal & red)

 

It was fun to do another craft fair! I also did some puppies with shorter ears, a fish, a sea turtle, a few more headbands, another hello kitty, and so on...

Bummer.

Imagine this. (Put yourself in my creative shoes for a minute or two, k?)

You get an order from a customer. This customer has ordered from you before and you know she totally loves what you create. So you start creating! You're super excited for her to get it and let her know when it's ready. You just know it will go great with her personality and wardrobe! So she sends you a check in the mail and you go to the bank and cash it. Off to the post office you go to mail her goody!

Two weeks go by and you get docked for a check amount and a returned check fee from your bank. Oh the horror! You think about who the check may be from and really, you know who it was because she was the only one you billed in that amount in the past 12 months that has paid by check. But you'll wait to get a copy of the check before confronting her because, sure - you just might be wrong.  And now, you have to ask her to pay you again, but this time you need her to cover the NSF expense from the bank, too. And that just makes your stomach turn thinking about it.

So.

Because of this scenario, I'm sorry - but I have to change my payment methods. I'll continue to accept cash and paypal. But if you want to pay me by check, it has to be a certified check of some sort. Money order, cashier's check - it's up to you. I just hate that I have to do this. But I guess, I have to insure that I don't get taken advantage of. I already have relatively low rates as it is and I eat half the shipping charges anyway...

Ride 'Em Cowboy

2 weeks ago my friend's husband called me and told me that they are going to have a little boy. He needed some help surprising his wife, kids & family on Christmas morning (no, my friend did NOT know the sex of her baby). So, I created this little number! They live out in the country and have over 100 horses! What better way to welcome him in than with his own set of cowboy boots and hat!

Wowzers what a week! It's official - Cranium Creations by Natalie is being consigned! I'm pretty excited about it. So now I have to create more than a few extra hats to put in the shop. My prices in the shop will naturally increase due to the percentage split. But here, on my blog (or through facebook), they will remain the same. So no worries there!

With hunting season and Christmas shopping upon us, my hooks are going to be SMOKIN'!

And not just the consignment fun - oh no! I will also be doing a craft fair at the end of next week. I've always done really well with those in the past, so I'm hoping for some extra cash to come in from that as well.

I've also been working on some local and non-local orders! This one is heading west to the western slope of Wyoming!

These last two were made with the instruction to have main colors of purple & blue. This is what I came up with.

The Triple Headband

Nevermind the boxes in the background, we're moving. Just look at the lovely headband and flower! The flower is a clip, so you can remove it if you want. The headband ties in the back.

wow, it's been awhile

Sorry folks! It's been crazy busy around here. We're moving and now that "the holidays" are coming up, people are starting to place orders. So you can imagine what my days are like - packing and sorting during the day and crocheting like a mad woman at night. Lucky for me, I have cheap child labor to help with the housework.
Moving on.
I thought I'd show some of my finished projects.

A girl in my town LOVES some crazy things. She's 15 and is my inspiration for all of my animal projects. This is her second request. (be looking for a lobster, panda bear and I'm sure many more!)

So there's this little boy. He's 7. And he's pretty sick. Sick like losing-your-hair sick. Poor kid. So he picked out a hat (the bottom of the two photos) and I whipped that up for him. Knowing his family's love of the Navy, I thought I'd give him the Navy hat as well. I sure do hope he feels better soon.

SO SORRY

I've been MIA since I was out of town for a few weeks and my internet has been SO screwy lately. So this past Monday I cancelled our internet service with the satellite company and today Qwest got us hooked up. It's amazing how much I use the internet. I've been lost without it.
I also received a new laptop for my birthday from my darling husband. So within the next few days I'll be posting my latest creations.
This weekend I have a "Spring Boutique" that I'll be selling my spring line at. I'm so excited to welcome in spring with more lacy looking hats, headbands and fun colors!
